Having worked in
medical market research for over twenty years, Mark has
senior-level experience with all aspects of qualitative
research for healthcare – managing, designing, moderating
and analyzing data for both domestic and global market
research studies. A recent project involved completing
all domestic interviews, overall project management and
analysis/report-writing for data collected in Canada, the
UK, Spain, France, Germany and Italy. Mark’s work includes
positioning new products, extending existing products to
new markets, market segmentation and assessing/improving
messaging concepts and advertising campaigns. Today, Mark
Herring is President of Mark Herring Associates.
Past work includes research on pharmaceutical products
related to cancer, diabetes, cardiac disease/cardiovascular surgery, psychiatric illness (schizophrenia, depression, bipolar disorder), HIV/AIDs, autoimmune disorders (inflammatory
bowel disease, ankylosing spondylitis) and many other disease states.
Mark also has performed qualitative research projects
for non-pharmaceutical healthcare organizations, including
manufacturers of medical/surgical devices and nuclear medical
imaging.
He has worked regularly with health insurance companies,
analyzing the attractiveness of a variety of innovations
in healthcare coverage, including flexible spending accounts
and other elements of consumer-driven health care.
Mark works regularly on public health issues. He has
completed qualitative research projects for the national
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on many topics, including:
bioterrorism, willingness of first responders to be vaccinated
for smallpox, strategies for encouraging high-risk groups
to receive the flu vaccine annually.
He also has worked with acute care hospitals. In one
recent project, he identified strategies for improving
cardiac referrals to a regional medical center from primary
care physicians in outlying areas. He regularly performs
patient satisfaction focus groups for hospitals and physician
group practices.
Early in his career, Mark worked in healthcare administration.
As part of his responsibilities he managed a broad series
of community education programs and served on the Board
of Directors for a local chapter of the American Diabetes
Association.
Mark has written several articles for national healthcare
and market research publications. He is a regular speaker
for local, regional and national organizations.
Mark also has applied his expertise outside the healthcare
arena. Past clients include non-profit organizations, schools
and school districts and several different government agencies.
